I store my images on an external hardrive. I only import the images I plan to work with into LR4. After I'm through, I save (export) my processed images back to the same folder that has the original image. I don't keep any images in LR or the catalog. After I'm through, I "select all" then click on "delete". A window pops up and asks if I want to "Completely delete the original image from the harddrive, or just "remove" from lightroom." This scares me everytime, I only want to remove from LR. Just one wrong click,.................. Anyway, is there an easier (and safer) way to just remove from LR??
Thank you.

A man buys a Porsche and every day he drives to his next door neighbors house about 100 feet away. At the end of the day he backs it up to his own house and he is very happy. What a waste of the Porsche. (or Lightroom)

There are multiple ways to import within lightroom
MOVE
ADD
Copy
Which one are you doing?
LR doesn't need to move the images to work on them...just keep the external drive connected while you are working on them (if it's fast enough) and ADD the images instead of moving or copying them, and then just disconnect when you are through...that way you aren't REALLY moving anything, LR is just keeping track of it's edits.
PS: LR 5 has a new feature that allows you to work on your images WITH THE EXTERNAL DRIVE DISCONNECTED! Yay!
That's worth the price of admission in my book.

ok... in see what your doing.
no... there is no other way... but even if you did accidentally delete them.. they are in the Windows recycle bin... just go get them.
Now what the hell did I do?????
I was just editing an image in LR. Everytime I make an adjustment, it shows the result in the small "navigator" image top, left. Nothing is happening to the large, main image. I must have disabled something???
Help please.

when you mouse over the presets in the left hand pane, you see the "possible" result in the navigator picture.
On the right (main area) you can view:
Before
After
Before/After split
So...I'll bet you hit the little button to the lower left of the main image and you are only viewing the "before" picture.
I don't have my laptop at the moment so I can't do a screen shot but that's my guess.
