The posted image was taken while photographing flowers in an arboretum in NY. I noticed this old thermostat, after getting bored with the flowers, and looking for something different (to me anyway) to take a picture of. There is a color variation and b&w one.

Stats: Micro-Nikkor 105mm, ISO 400, f/20, 1/60 sec w/flash.

Is either rendition interesting enough to keep or should the trash bin receive yet another addition? Additional critiques or comments welcomed. Thanks 8-)

They are both interesting Bmac, and keepers, but very little difference in the color or B&W. Great detail

Thanks for the opinion Gregory. I prefer the color over the b&w due to the spot of rust having that contrasting color with the metal. 8-)

I like the top one, with the rust. Helps to show that it is old. Nice eye.

I have to agree with everyone else. Both are very nice. But....if I had to choose I would say the color version. Great shot! :-D

I like the color shot because of the rust. Maybe could make a series of related subjects for triptych, collage or such?

Yep, definitely the color shot because of the contrasting rust. Interesting photo.

Hi Bmac
I like both also - but the B&W just just pips the colour - the ageing process in the B&W just make it more appealing personally

Cheers
Karl
