Or, formulate your own first and then see if anyone else can validate your thoughts.
Now you're talking. Find people who will back up your opinion! :D
Mr Clickie.
Re your avatar...love the knee pad accessories to your outfit! Perfect practical touch! You need more "stuff" hanging off your shoulders and around your waist to complete the ensemble though! ;)
I do wish I still had my tile laying knee pads though!...would come in handy!

Thanks. That particular day I was shooting a very active 2 year old. Had to get down to her level (when I could catch her!). Extra gear was in my backpack.

In that situation...knee pads a wise choice!
I've seen that report in CR. They rank consumer models with pro-models which I think should be done separate.
there should be a separate reviewd for pro equipment.
i purchased a camera based on 3 questions that i considered to be very important:
1-cost (less is better)
2-megapixels (more is better)
3-optics (glass or plastic)
today it is only a point and shoot type -it's an olympus D-490-and as always i'm very happy with it --

Stick with the sites that review photography equipment exclusively. They are experts where CR reviewers are probably generalists. And has been mentioned they review for the general public and not photography enthusiasts or pros.
Thanks for all your responses. Wilbur. I learn something new everyday.
I used to believe in CR and have followed their advice. However, recently it has been revealed that CR has had some products where the review has been influenced by a less than honest reviewer. I know this will upset some of you but do some checking on your own and see what you find.

Pro equipment buyers are not "Consumers" in the strictest sense. They don't buy the majority of the products in order to warrant significant enough numbers to create a reviewable product type. At least not a consumer product.

In reviewing discussions comparing cameras, no mention that I have seen speaks of Consumer Reports evaluations on cameras and lenses. How do you folks rate their evaluations ? Thanks. Wilbur
I prefer evaluations by real photographers instead of ones by an evaluation mill that does toasters and cars too. If I'm buying a lawn mower I look to them for which one cuts better on a bumpy yard. If I'm buying a blender they can tell me which one draws ice cubes down into the bottom better. But cameras are personal choices of what works well for YOU and the operator is a big part of the result coming out of the camera. No dSLR is a complete dog anymore so they can't be tested the same way as a generic appliance.
The evaluation at CR are by "consumers" the blue collar, white collar, gray collar, soccer moms, etc. Just like most of the people here aren't going to be well versed in the latest fertilizers to make a flower grow bigger and brighter, but we can take a picture of it, that doesn't make us an expert to review it. That is the cr evaluator. The p+s may be in their wheelhouse, but most use their smartphone as the best camera they ever owned! I'd hope to find a review by someone who knows that you can't texta response to these posts on the D7000 they are reviewing today!
I wrote Consumer Reports off years ago. They were testing pump shotguns and gave the Winchester Model 12 a low rating. Anyone who knew anything about guns knew all others were compared to the Model 12. It was a classic and still is even though it hasn't been made for 49 years.
The only reason Winchester gave it up as the cost of making it had become prohibitive in a very competitive market.
