I recently won two competitions...both images were taken with my D90 and my 150 - 500mm Sigma lens @ 500mm.
Here are the magazine clippings and the actual photos...
The baboon came out well even though it was shot through a 20mm glass wall...it was a real spur of the moment thing as he was only sitting like this for about 2 seconds...he then proceeded to eat the paper...
The duck was heavily cropped as it was way over the other side of the lake. The Sigma performed very well despite some negative comments about its ability past 420mm......
The lovely Sigma 150mm Macro ($1200 worth) was the prize in the Sigma comp...the other prize was some more memory cards...
Congratulations. What magazine was this published in?

It was published in a National magazine here in Australia called Camera.

I can see why. The Meerkat photo makes me feel like I could reach out and touch him.
We want to see a few true macro photos with the Sigma 150-mm macro lens.
   Congrats, Ron. Great job! I have a friend using a Sigma 50-500 all the time at 500 to take pics of Eagles with a Canon 40D and his pics are spectacular. I think your duck pic is in his class. Thanks for sharing.

   Ron, I want to reach into the photo and dust off the sand from the Meerkat's nose and maybe pull its whiskers. :) Congrats on a great job. Thanks for sharing.
