Hi, this may be a stupid question but how do I put a copyright symbol and my name on my pictures? I just purchased Paintshop Pro 4 and I'm just not "getting" it. I'm looking for something professional looking. What do you guys do?

Everybody does something different.

I am not familiar with PSPro #4, I used a product called Watermark Factory. It lets you design any number of watermarks, put them anywhere on the image, tile them, adjust opacity, etc etc. Very easy, full featured, and I think only cost $20 or something. Windows & Mac versions.

I am using Paintshop Pro x3. You would design the logo of choice, or perhaps just text. Save it as an image and then use the watermarking function under Image on the menu bar. Should be about the same in 4

You may also try going to the edit tab and scroll down the left column to the letter "T" That is the Text Tool for inserting text anywhere in the image you prefer.

In Paintshop (general) you can make your watermark in psp format on a clear background, size to to any size or sizes you want and save it as a psp (suffix) file. Then, add it to any photo as a layer, slide it to anyplace on the photo you want, and then save it as a jpg, bmp, tiff, etc.

A professor once told me something, when I had raised my hand and told him that I had a stupid question. He said, first there is no such thing as a stupid question. We all learn in different ways. Something that is obvious to some is not to others is all. In a class of say 50 people, if someone asks a question, there might be 30 or more people that want the answer to that same question, but don't want to raise their hand. Since then I have been very surprised when I raise my hand and find out that others in the class wondered also. Only they did not raise their hand. So there really is are no stupid questions. Just my 2 cents. for asking

As of Sunday, December 18th, 2011, Watermark is selling its image watermark program for $49.00 but only for a limited time. Here is the link to learn about it and order:

In Picasa it is easy using the text tool. Just open "character map" from Microsoft Accessories, pick a font and font size, select the © character and other text and you are done. If you want it to show up in other environments as well as Picasa you need to save the image.

In character map you can find the code for the symbol you want to use. For instance the copyright symbol in Arial is ALT+0169.
So hold down the ALT key on your keyboard and type 0169, and you'll get the © see. I use allot of arrows and pointers in pictures I take for work, so what I do is create a Word document (or word pad, notepad) and use character map to insert the symbols I use most, then just copy and paste them. By the way this works great if you have to use foreign currency £ ¥ € symbols or special characters like ö ä
