Hi everyone. My name is Debra Sue and I love taking pictures...of everything. I have been looking around this site and find it FASCINATING! I am starting a photo ministry at my church and can't wait to use all the things I learn on this site to help me.
Hi, Debra Sue, and welcome aboard from another newbie. I have been reading posts and looking over a number of photos here for a few weeks, but just registered today.
I can tell you that there are many different levels of experience represented here. Also, I am very impressed by the eagerness to help anytime that you post a question. Many of the photos which I've seen here attest to the skill of some of these photographers.
What type of gear are you using -- both camera and lenses?

Welcome Debra Sue. I think you have come to the right place. You will learn a lot and be able to help other from what you learn. A photography ministry? That is one I have never heard of before. Would you be willing to explain a little about it? It sounds very interesting.

Susie Q:
Just wanted to compliment your avatar shot -- beautifully lit -- and a pretty subject, too!
Dear Wright:
Thank you...I took this photo of a cutting from one of my 65 rose bushes! It was during the winter, here in California. We still have rose blooms right now! But on the avatar, the cutting was brought inside the house, put up a black background behind it and photographed in my kitchen under the light there! Of course I edited it later to be black and white on Photoshop Elements.
