You may call yourself a professional photographer and therefore somehow think this qualifies you to pass a totally uncalled for opinion on whether or not someone has the necessary 'looks' to win a beauty contest.
I call you a self opinionated dork.
A quick look at your website doesn't reveal any work that stands out as a modelling assignment.
I see no examples of glamour or even any particularly creative lighting.

The man asked for advice, not a blow to the head.

She stands not a chance as a model, she does not have what it takes sorry.

As for the photographs, she has metal poles growing out of her, trees sprouting from her head, the lighting is terrible, no contrast, etc etc etc....

Again sorry, looks are everything in modelling, that is blunt and a FACT Ruthiel said she is pretty, I disagree, looks are everything in modelling and she does not have what it takes.

And please do something about the birds nest on hear head. Whilst you may not have the right gear makeup and time cost very little.

Ok now all, come out against my honesty, she is probably an exceedingly nice person who will never be a model.

I agree completely with JR1, and you would have done her a service to have left the lens cap on. Sorry but that's a fact.

Thank you so much for your "courteous" reply, unlike most of the others here. Boy this site sure has a lot of egomaniacs who get off on being rude to others, huh? Honesty is one thing. Rudeness and a total lack of class is quite something else....

Well you may call whtever it is you post "honesty." I call it being classless and rude. Perhaps you fashion yourself as Simon Cowell? Do you really think the way you diss folks is a way to get more of us to post photos here for "honest" criticism? Or is your intent to attempt to intimidate us? It's sad you have to resort to slamming folks and personal attacks for your ego gratification. What a loser. I don't mind CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. What you post isn't being honest... it's merely being petty and cruel.

I totally agree with these thoughts!!
"Most" of the people here are friendly, courteous and helpful. HOWEVER, there are a few that do their best to take the fun out of this site and don't show us that they know what they are talking about. MOST of the harshest critics have not shown anything better than what they are trying to drag down. Captain C is one of the exceptions, he will give you honest critiques, sometimes a little blunt, however he has also shown that he KNOWS what he is talking about!

Thank you for another COURTEOUS and constructive comment! I appreciate it. And you're right... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, etc. I think she's very attractive.

Bob,

I went back to your website to see if there was anything there to indicate that perhaps I was too critical in my assessment of your portraiture. Sorry, but there wasn't.

I don't want to get into a dissing match with other forum members, but this is (I thought) a forum about making our photography better through shared communication.

Taking a left turn and talking about the merits of a persons aspirations has NOTHING to do with BobD wanting feedback.

As I said before, it is not our job to say whether or not someone is right for that, no one made you president of who is worthy. You have your right to your opinion, but BobD didn't ask for it.

If I post a photo of a one eyed dog with 3 legs and ask if he is a good subject, then I want your opinion of the dog as a subject, since he may have dreams of being in a dog show.

If I post that same photo and ask if the shadows are right or wrong, then I don't give a frig what you think of the subject because that is not my question. And for you to comment negatively on something not asked IS petty and cruel.

The dog on 3 legs is still faster than you and would simply bite you.

I agree with pretty much everything that Captain C has said; and, he did not say that this young woman "does not have what it takes". Before I retired, and closed my studios, I had photographed dozens of models for clients and for creating the model's portfolios. Here is a fact that most on here likely do not know (except for Captain C), even the best models are generally plain, flat appearing, and just short of being ugly. . .before Hair & Makeup! Until you have seen these transformations up close and personal, you are not going have any basis for saying if someone has what it takes to become a model (are you paying attention JR1?).

Here is a person who would not know a model of one fell on him. A person who is all mouth and no talent. Any "real" photographer can take a look at this female and know that with the proper hair and makeup, proper lighting, proper direction (by a real photographer), and this woman could easily knock your socks off. She has those eyes, that wonderful skin, good teeth, great bone structure (look at those cheek bones, jaw line & chin). . .and her hair problems can be solved.

If she lived in my area, and if she would take direction, I would get my old hair and makeup artist to come in, get a studio from my friend that I sold most of my lighting equipment to, and in the space of one day, Suzanne would have a number of stunning professional portfolio shots.

I will hazard a guess and say that I think Captain C would say the same thing. . .in fact that is what he has said already.

For everyone (JR1 and followers) who out of hand have stated she has no hope of ever being a model, I can say without hesitation she has a lot more hope of becoming a model than these people have in ever becoming a decent photographer and person. Oh, and to one person in this thread, I think your racial bigotry is beginning to show just a bit. . .
