What is this.......
That looks like a battery converter, but I can't tell for sure. I have some similar-looking devices that are for putting in inexpensive AA batteries, then using them in a device that requires expensive C or D cell batteries. Converters are inexpensive little plastic cases you can find online at ebay and Amazon.
Incidentally, if that's not what you've got there, keep "battery converters" in mind. You can save a bundle by using the much-cheaper (albeit a bit shorter-lived) AA batteries.

Cylindrical, big one is 1.25" long. they latch closed with a catch. Insert is metal? The way the openings are shaped they are designed to close on a chord of some type (maybe)... Its not for a drawstring, those have a better functioning cheaper design..
Sorry no prize other than a salve for my curiosity...
They clamp onto a standard USB cable to eliminate interference.
Here's a snapshot of a AA to C converter I use for a flashlight. It's a cheap Chinese version that I got off ebay, but it works well.

And this has what to do with the OPs post?
I had said that his thing looked like a battery converter. Read the thread.

Oh sorry, didn't see your original response.

Yup. I couldn't agree more. I use em all the time on my ham radio gear to reduce interference and noise.

Just adding to the pile. I too am a ham op and have a few of them laying around that I got when I worked for RCA. We used them in some CATV and MATV installs, mostly in hospitals.
