Weather You Need To Have 2 Cameras Or not Is A No Brainer.
On A Wedding We Have 4 Cannons with Us .
However If you Are not A Pro, And you are On That Vacation Of A Life time That You Have Spent Thousands Of Dollars On and That ONE Camera That You Brought Goes Down For What Ever Reason,Your Standing There In Beautiful Hawaii, In The middle Of Nowhere,At The Edge Of The Volcano. Then What? A 5D Is A Good Choice If You Already Working With Another Cannon Camera That Uses The Same Lenses. However Take A lot Of Batteries. The 5D And 7D Use Different Batteries.

The OP wrote that she is a pro working for a horse magazine and doing some private work, she did not say what. She stated that at present her backup camera is a Digital Rebel, a fairly recent model, but apparently in her opinion not up to the job. I would agree. In her case it does seem that a second 7D would be reasonable.

By the way very nice scenic photos, I can see why you like your 5D. And a beautiful Cat, seems to enjoy posing.

The 7D and the 5DIII both use the same LP-E6 Canon battery.

6D has it and a GPS but you can always add an eyeFi SD card to the second slot of a 5DIII for wifi.

Hi everyone,

I am a photographer for a horse magazine as well I have my own photography business going.
I have a canon 7D which I love, the prices have come down and I'm seriously considering on purchasing a second camera from the proceeded of my photo sales.

Would you recommend purchase another 7D or should I look at an upgrade of this camera at an inflated price or look at something else.
The fast shudder speed of the 7D is important in my work as horses move so fast and unexpectedly.

All suggestions welcome, thank you in advance.

You might consider a full frame Canon 6. It would be a nice complement to the 7D and would be used in different situations.

I Have A Wi Fi Card But I'm Not Impressed. The Card Company Tells me if I Use it with The 7D I could Cause Computer Problems. And Same With The Old 5D. I Only Found This Out After I Bought it.I Also Had to Use A Card Adaptor For Both Cameras.
Thanks For The Thoughtful Info Though.
We Seem To Really Have No Problem Loading Info Fast With The iMac. If my Partner Uses his Laptop PC However It is Very slow.
We Have To Be Carefull If two Commercial Customers Are Back to Back We Use The iMac.
Thanks A Happy Spring/Sumer Photo Season!

If you can afford it go for a 5d mklll I did this in October and have no regrets. Ok you lose 2 fps, but the full frame and advanced AF would be particularly useful to you. Check out the reviews, particularly the advanced AF modes. I don't think you will look back!

I have a 60d and a 24-105 a. 70-200 and a100-400 all L lenses and I just got a 6d full frame. The controls are very similar and I'm having a lot of fun shooting closer and a little different subjects. I can still switch back and forth in case one body malfunctions. The battery's ,cards, flashes are all the same. For me this made sense. I thought about for a long time . But I'm just an amature hack not making a living with my photos.
