Being a former architect and then taking a lot of architectural photos, both interiors and exteriors you would love my 35mm f/2.8 Nikkor perspective control lens.

You can eliminate some of the distortions etc and it is sooo sharp. Obviously it was for their old film cameras (I still use my old F2) but it works on my D7000 too. Below is Nikon's link to the 3 Perspective Control lenses they still offer. You've got some great architectural images there too!

Another idea to control perspective is to back up far enough so that the film plane can be parallel to the vertical planes of the building. Simply crop the image during post processing. This basically what shift lenses do, they actually have a wider field of view than the marked focal length, a the field of view is shifted to allow the film plane to be vertical. Personally i do not like the results in post processing.

Those are very nice shots. I was thinking about replacing the D80 with that one...looks like a good choice. (My other half wants my D80).

Thank you so much...I actually came from a Canon system so have no idea about the D7000..all I know is that the D7100 is a lot lighter..weight wise..some of the controls are in different places and the low pass filter has been removed making photos much sharper and deeper in color...also coming from a Canon system I feel like I finally have a pro level system!..I am pretty sure you will notice all differences when you receive this camera..like I said I think Nikon really got it right with this..I know you will be thrilled with it!...so have fun!..

Your camera will shoot in JPEG or NEF (Nikon's RAW format) or both. PSD is the PhotoShop file format. So, it appears that your computer is importing your pictures directly into one of the PhotoShop programs. If I can help you further, let me know.
