Interesting article from Scott Kelby's blog about how to save space in camera by only shooting RAW and then using IJFR to extract jpeg from raw.

Thanks Realbohemian, I also am a fan of Zoner, I consider it the best and I use it all the time. I have just converted another batch of RAW and I was amazed how quick it was.
Thanks for the tip. JE

Does any know a quick to convert them to JPEG. I can do it one by one but its takes ages.

LR4. Import them all to a folder you create in the Library. Once there, select them all in the view at the bottom by clicking the first one, hold down the shift key, and click the last one. Choose export and tell it to export to the same folder and to make them JPG format. I wouldn't have it compress with a number less than 100 for now until you're done editing. Done. Now you have the RAW and JPG versions in the same folder. I'd save the RAW versions for a while because you never know if you might destroy a JPG and want to create another one.

If you've imported them into LR, select all the photos and choose the Export button below the left panel. Set your parameters for the export and click the button. All the photos you have selected will be exported.

One of the parameters you have to set is the destination file type, so be sure to select JPG, if that's what you want. Keep in mind, however, when you take JPG images with your camera, it processes them into that JPG. If you have them in LR now as raw, you should probably do some processing on them before you export them. Otherwise, you may not be happy with the resulting JPGs.

Good advise all the way.

Google "Instant Jpeg from RAW". Go there and download the free program. I use it every day. It does a batch conversion and takes about one second per pic to convert to jpeg. After I have the jpegs I can then go back and do the pp in RAW but have the jpegs to use as previews.

You can use the "Process Multiple Files" feature of Photoshop Elements to convert RAW files to JPEG.

Thanks ever so much. For some inexplicable reason, my D90 shot half photos in JPEG (we shoot in JPEG) & then the remaining half in RAW which can't be viewed in Windows Picture Viewer (the only program my daughter has when I sent the CD across). I usually use Photoshop CS2 but Photoshop Elements came pre-packaged with my new Packard Bell Windows 7 PC; your solution worked a treat! Important photos of a family occassion (my wife receiving an M.B.E. [a British thing] at Buckingham Palace) can now be properly shared.
