Storm chasing in western Kansas last week. This is in the Gypsum Hills area...
That's a spectacular photo, complete with at least three cloud to cloud lightning strikes. since it looks like this was not a long exposure I have to wonder how in the world you managed to get the three strikes in the shot? ..... coot

good question...it is 3 seperate shots that were only seconds apart. I was using a Patch Master III lightning trigger...and this brings me to source of my anger. There was some of the most beautiful day time lightning I've ever seen and I screwed it up so bad, I kicked my ass all the way home, every 250 miles of it. I'm still so mad at myself that a week later when I think about this I'm just seething with anger...if it wouldn't hurt, I'd like to just punch my self. I kept adjusting and adjusting and couldn't get the shots...I was adjusting the wrong way the whole time. I realized it just minutes after leaving so it was a very long trip home.
Oh, I blended the 3 shots in my HDR software, since they were so close together the clouds hadn't moved enough to make much difference.
Clever! That looks like a very active cloud bank. There must have been a lot of lightning to be able to catch it without cloud movement. Thanks! ......... Coot

The 3 shots happened within two seconds. The 1st ones time of shot was ‏‎7:44:20 PM and the third one was at 7:44:21 PM. The lightning trigger was working just fine, it was me that wasn't. I missed all the cloud to ground action.
