What Bird is this. (Australia)
There has been some debate on this being a Chicken Hawk or a Goshalk. Or the close looker of the Sparrow Hawk. what do you think. They look so much the same.???
I rescued this bird this morning. I was exhausted. After placing a towel over it, I lifted it to freedom.
It was flyihg into the glass of our veranda.

I'd say Collared Sparrowhawk, sometimes called Chichenhawk I gather. Mainly because of the long slender legs and toes. Colouring not quite right though - maybe immature? Happy to be advised otherwise if any experts respond!
Thanks, The goshawk is call the chickenhawk. Have had alot of feed back from Facebook today. But still no result. Seems to be a bit of a mystery. The sparrowhawk has more white bellow the tail area. where my one had patterned feathers. I don't know.???

Thanks, thought so and they are also know as a chicken hawk as well. Have seen them a few times over the years around our place. Glad I saved it.

Accipiter fasciatus is what I would have guessed as well. The tail looks rounded. I believe his bird is a juvenile also.
Common names can be very misleading at times. The long, thin toes are very indicative of cirrhocephalus. If thhe size of the bird was 42 to 50cm it was faciatus. If 30 to 38 cirrhocephalus.
