An exceptional set of images. You can't beat black and white.
Super, super, super B&W pics. I'm new on the Hog but your work just blew me away. I guess I'll have to discard or sell my Nikon and take up knitting. I think I dislike you to much. I couldn't take my eyes off of "Closed." It addresses and speaks to many levels of our current social problems and (whether intended or not) the use of framing and white to the right and dark and black to the left of the corner of the bldg with the subject sitting right in the middle of this social conundrum is nothing short of brilliant. I so look forward to more of your work. My peasant hat is off to you sir. Your are a master of the B & W format.

A few shots from last week.
The second Pic titled closed was a true candid attempt.
I was shooting the third picture titled New Spec when I looked behind me and saw the seen. This has happened on more than one occasion. Always look behind you on the street!
Looks like I got busted. He wasn't sure if I took his picture or not. My camera was moving right to left like I was shooting a video. Stopped ever so briefly to get the snap. Needless to say this was one of my rare shots that I did not get a model release.
All great shots,as usual.No.1 is my favorite. Thanks.
The Shot of RIchard Johnson was shot in a dark recessed part of a building where light was clipping across the front of his face. Think-- shooting in garage with your subject standing at the door.
What little bit of the lit background that was showing was killed in post processing. I loved the light so much I thought I would do the monochrome in a fine art style. What I loved most about the shot was how the hair dropped down into darkness. Sometimes you get lucky and the subject has a solid black shirt.
Most of my days on the street don't turn out so good. Usually I get 1 photo that I like. On this day I got three. The candid was the most prized for me. I could have never thought to set up a shot like that.
Comments welcome.

P.S. Yes JR1... I used monochrome(in my text above) for you and my other English friends. Now all you have to do is convince NAPP to start using the word Monochrome(LOL)

Russ, let me join the chorus--these are some beautiful photos! Thanks for posting them so we newer shooters can see what we're supposed to be achieving.

I cannot think of a high enough praise to describe your work Russ. Thanks very much for sharing these, outstanding!!
Thanks Russ, great shots and I agree with a book made of your street shots. I also have no comment as how to improve as I don't think they need any or could be made better. I believe you have found your niche, it seems to fit you very well, however I still enjoy the photos of your daughter. Keep up the good work and thanks again for posting them.

Terrific "street" shots and they work wonderfully in B&W (sorry, monochrome). To me colour would have been nowhere near as high impact and taken away the focus. Love the tight cropping and slightly beefed up contrast. Great set.
Wow...amazing powerful images...love them
