I just wanted to let people on here know about the experience I had with the Canon service center in Irvine , Ca. I sent my D40 & 24-105L to Canon for cleaning & tuneup. I had spots in my photographs in the viewfinder & they were showing up in the light areas of my photos. I was notified as soon as they received my lens & camera & after I approved the service the following day the service was completed in 2 days & was on the way back tome. They also updated the camera & they were perfect.

Just another post, showing again the usually excellent customer service, Canon shooters are acustomed to.

You are right. Being in retail for over 25 years I always told my sale staff that their job started when the customer need service or support. It's one thing to sell a product but service & support makes them come back for future purchases

I too had a nice experience with Canon.
After purchasing a CanonSX50 last year, and.giving it a test run, I went on vacation. Shooting mainly in wildlife refuges, the camera came up with a glitch, wouldn't turn on and off, so I sent it in to the Canon service center. A short while later they contacted me, said it was unrepairable, and sent me a brand-new camera. By the way, I had a backup SX40 down there with,me. Luckily, I had followed my own rule of having a backup always available. The Canon service people were excellent.

Ditto! A very good experience and I had my lens back in 7 days after Canon received and I approved the "fix". It did cost me an arm though ($309).

I had two issues with two camera bodies. The first one intermittently would erase my card. I was just practice shooting. So nothing really great was lost. I sent it back Canon could find nothing wrong, but informed me if it continued they would service it at no charge and it would be under warranty. Yea sure enough took test pictures and it went down. They put in a new board and it's still going strong! No charge. My 60 D showed a shutter error message sent it back and no charge. The great thing with me I am hearing challenged. I am treated with respect and dignity. I really like Canon. I have no particular greater reason. I would shoot many different brands. I like the way Canons work. I like the value that I receive. I love Canons warranty and service. I hear people bad mouth many brands. When I investigate an issue I more likely than not find it is the person issue that has created a problem. What ever logo that you are wearing good shooting!

Good to know of your personal experience, and it is what I would expect.
I've 5 canon bodies and a raft of lenses and such. They are the consummate pro manufacturers, and always very helpful.

Love that Canon Service. (7 Canon's and counting) They have always answered me and helped with any problem I have had, and no matter how dumb a question I asked was (looking back some were beyond dumb) they gave a reasonable answer in a kind, easy to understand, and courteous manner. All customer service departments could learn from Canon how customer service is done right.
