Was wondering what some of the members are using to edit and view there footage on. Im not quite into the pro end of using my camera for video (yet). Suggestions welcome for "freeshare" as well as some that may cost. I have used the video feature on my camera only for my daughter, with her school functions, for fun.
Thanks!!!

Photoshop elements 10 Premier should do the job nicely!

If your daughter has an Apple computer, iMovie is fantastic, and one step up in Apple software would be Final Cut Pro X.

I agree, price is right, easy to learn interface, and good quality output. There are lots of others out there but Elements 10 Premiere is an excellent choice.

I use both Premiere elements and Sony Vegas Pro. Premiere elements is excellent for moderate editing. Windows movie maker is not bad and it's free! Should be pre-installed on Win 7, if not, it's a free download (obviously you must be on a windows machine).

Oh yeah... can you say Windows Vista....okay its not too bad.....I think...lol
I do notice on any software including Windows movie maker...the tracking seems zagged, not smooth.....even when the clip is downloaded into the harddrive...hmmm.....?

Methinks it might be time to upgrade the old PC, lots of good Xmas deals out there that would handle the video much better than anything still running Vista.

It really depends on hardware. I did a lot of HD editing on Vista running Q6600 with 4gb ram. It was a little slow to render and could not preview full screen, but it worked. Now zipping along with Sandy Bridge i7 processors etc. on win 7. It's a little smoother and faster : )

SLR's really are not for movies. Use a Camcoder

I am sorry, but thats like saying "Cars are not for driving, ride a horse!"

Reminds me of all the people who said "Digital will never catch on, you can't replace film." Ask Kodak about that one!
