I have been looking for new SDHC cards for a while now because I'm going on an 8-day Alaskan cruise in about 5 1/2 weeks. I may or may not have did the exact same search before, but I clicked the link and ended up buying 2 Sony 32 GB cards for a grand total of $44.16. This more than quintuples my existing memory and almost doubles my fastest card speed (class 6)...probably more than I'll ever need...until I buy a nice camera that can do video or has more MP. I still have to buy a few more accoutrements (monopod, CPL, maybe a couple extra batteries, etc.)...boy is this trip gonna cost me!!!!!!

Camera supplies will probably be the least of your expenses unless you will be staying with friends or relatives or camping out. I like to shoot video as well as pictures so I would suggest you take along a video camera if your camera doesn't shoot video. I have just gone over 1000 videos on you tube and many more pictures than that on Flickr. Enjoy your trip and take a laptop to store all of those pictures and videos. I always empty my card once I upload to my computer to make plenty of room for the next day. I filled my 32 GB on a three day trip to Portland, much of that was video from my dash pad mount of the trip home.

Sandiisk has a nice description on their website explaining the differences between their SD cards and other memory products.

I'll be "camping out" in my cabin on the ship, which I won't be in very often, and I will be "staying with family" as my cruise companion is my mom (saves me from paying twice as much for the room). I don't have a video camera, but maybe I can borrow one. It'll be my first trip to Alaska and when I get back I'll be an old geezer (AARP-eligible). The cruise is almost paid for as well as one excursion (a photography tour - another first experience). I've "talked" to some other people on the cruise via cruisecritic, but none of them seem to be hogs (although one of the guides for the photo tour is)

So, it seems your camera expenses will be the least of your expenses, have a fun and safe trip and spread the word about UHH. Be thankful you won't have film and developing expenses to contend with. Being an old geezer is fun and comfortable, free to be me. 71

The difference is speed, the extreme is faster. With the XTI you don’t need all the extra speed (max write speed for the xti I think is around 40mb/s) unless you plan on upgrading your camera. A faster card will however down load faster. A 2GB card shooting in RAW on the XTI will hold about 200 pictures. If you get bigger cards and one goes bad or lost you loose more picks.

Jerry,
I always wondered who's life they use as reference for the "Lifetime Warranty". LOL

"Hey, this thing with a lifetime warranty broke."

"Well, sir, evidently its lifetime is over."

I have one of those too, better than my point and shoot but I haven't used it since I went digital, the last time I used it was the comet Hale-Bopp was here, that was a wonderful event.

Just sent it back to the Mfgr with the death certificate and they should be willing to send you a replacement. I just hope it wasn't something that was really alive. LOL. Artificial intelligence is guarenteed for the life of the computer only, so you may have to explain how it died though.

Having spent many years in the computer industry I've seen many unknown brands come into the market place offering equal or better features at more competitive pricing. They "buy" market share and ultimately become mainstream products. Zectron may very well become mainstream in the future. If I were buying a flash card for my precious photos, however, I wouldn't take the chance. I'd stick with a proven brand, and try Zectron with documents of lesser value ... at least for now.

I use only SanDisk or Lexar.
Never had a problem with either.
I do this for a living and don't trust anything else.

Look at Adorama. You can get SanDisk 16 GB 60mb write speed for $49. Or 30mb write speed for less. Or an 8GB, 60mb write speed for $28.95 or an 8Gb, 30mb write speed for $23.95 B & H have the same prices as Adorama, I believe.

They have the 32 Gb Sandisk, 60mb write speed for $79.95

I trust Sandisk.

If you use a card with a higher write speed than your Camera's ability, Then you are wasting money.
