Jumping Spider 05/04

Not so long ago it was kinda rare to see jumping spider pics in this forum... Then Martin finally mastered his camera got a good flash solution, and the rest is history. It seems that post after post on the forum is of jumpers, which is actually a good thing because they are quite extraordinary bugs but I rarely have the opportunity to find them like I did on this visit to my son's home. Just to be different I think that when I get back into Daytona I am going to out and start shooting bees again, it seems that we are all posting these jumpers, I think that a few bee shots will give us some spider relief.
I picked this guy off the side of the house and put him on a plant that allowed for better shots... I wanted to keep him a bit longer but felt that I owed it to him to get him back his home.
These are again shot with a 28mm reversed lens on about 35mm worth of tubes. ISO 100, I used apertures both f/14 and f/16 on this series. Manual flash with a home made paper towel diffuser.

Thanks Martin, I never thought that I would tire of Jumpers, not that I really have, but.... There are a couple that I know where they live that I have already shot that I think that I will just leave be... I would still like to find a species that I have not yet shot. I have having a hard time getting the images as sharp as the set up that you are using... but then again I only paid $50 for the setup that I shot these with... Hope to get my 100mm fixed soon and start lens stacking again, I found a good repair shop up in Jacksonville.

Such charmers! btw, bug generally refers to insects, not spiders - but maybe you macro folks have your own language :)

Very Nice, What affect are you using on the eyes, I've been looking for something to enhance the eyes of my spiders. Like a clear polished layer over them.. Would love to see what you can do with this one http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-112263-1.html

I did play around with your pic, but don't think that I was able to really improve on it.. I have one that I improved on several days after posting this one on UHH, I placed it on 500px. I think this Jumper is one of my better efforts. Every time I get a little better I just reach a little higher. I've order some special Black Cloth that will obsorp light/no reflection to line the tubes. Recommended by the stacking guys, they talk freely about the glare and how to correct this. Hope this step helps yet again. I know there's an eye treatment out there somewhere that will take these a step higher.. Thanks for trying.
