The new firmware is now available.
There are a number of new lens supported when using a 2x teleconverter. A number of the f/4 L series lens now have AF support with Canon teleconverters. I have checked out my Kenko MC7 2x teleconverter and the AF seems to work fine also. The center AF point now supports up to a maximum f/stop of f/8.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/EOS5DM3_firmwareTell me how to get the firmware. When I click on Firmware, all I see are download instructions. ????
Right above the second section there is a 'Download Now' button.
Look in the bottom right of the picture.
I received a notice from Canon about the update. I got the same as you have pictured. It takes me to the Firmware section and I have downloaded what is shown there and it's a PDF explaining how to load on your camera. One of the instructions is to "unzip all" and there's nothing to unzip. There are several PDF's in the download that are different languages. I speak English, I click on English and there is nothing else but a list of procedures. I don't see any other zip file to open. ???? Am I nuts?
In the file I downloaded, there was a PDF and an FIR file. I put the FIR file onto an SD card and upgraded the firmware.
Try the Windows 8 or Windows Vista options and see if you get something different.

I put the FIR file onto a card and followed the update instructions and it worked. I was looking to unzip another file. Thanks!!!!!!!! I'll remember what to do next time. Thanks again for helping this old coot.
I'm glad you got it to work.
The firmware upgrade now allows my 1.4x teleconverter to work on all my lens. I don't use it very often but it is nice to know I have the option.

I have one too, but I have't tried it yet. And yes, you are right, it is nice to know we have the option now.

And now the 5DIII outputs full uncompressed HD video!
