One item to keep in mind is, Lightroom is more of an overall photo type program. In other words, makes total changes to the whole picture. Other programs allow you to do specific spot repairs. Lightroom is know for its cataloging abilities as already mentioned. I know a few that use both, but it depends on what kind of shooting you do. Great for landscapes as you normally do everything to the whole photo!!

You either don't have LR or a very old version. LR5 has some new features often performed in Photoshop. You can use brush tools for healing and various other venues. I don't think the new version has layers, though I haven't read the complete list of new features. But unless you use cutting and layering features, LR5 will engulf most of the editing requirements needed - as well as cataloging your images. It also works well with Photoshop, Nik and One One Software linked through pluggins, should you want to expand LR capabilities.

Wrong
with the adjustment brush tool you can make specific changes to portions of your photo. I use it all the time and LR5 beta does even better with cloning and healing

The new version of Lightroom (LR5 Beta) does not have layers however there are several new functions that greatly improve on the LR4 version. Check out this link for a quick tutorial on the changes: http://photoshopuser.com/lightroom5/

It's onOne Software. Perfect Photo Suite 7.1. New version coming out soon. I love this plug-in.
