Thank you! I live about 5 miles from this Portland, OR Zoo. I have a full membership that lets me walk in at no charge for the next year. I retired in July so I can go 7 days a week at any time. It's a nice advantage because I know the zoo so well and what kind of weather conditions bring out the cats.
I REALLY REALLY wanna live in Oregon... never gave it any thought until about 2 years ago, though.
These are as awesome as the others, btw! :)
Sounds like you're really enjoying Your retirement, and making it COUNT!
I'm going to miss the local Zoo in Salisbury and the photo-ops I had for the past 7 years. All the beautiful wooded pathways and open spaces along the way, too... especially during the change of seasons.
I've been here with friends for two weeks already and they're starting to worry about me 'cause I won't come outta my room except to use the bathroom... *sighs* Not much of a photo-op in the bathroom!
(hmmmm... or IS there!? lol)

I dreamt of that very same thing, so don't think you're alone!
My Mom collected NG since the early 60's and I had the privilege and pleasure of thumbing through them all from a young age.
When she remodeled the bathroom, she had me cut out the photos that spoke to me and make a collage that covered the whole wall... just about KILLED me to cut them up!
I recently had the pleasure of sitting through a presentation and meeting one the the most celebrated photographers for the NG, Bruce Dale. That was an AMAZING experience.
Hold onto that dream!

You need to buy Moose Peterson's book "Captured". He's a top wildlife photographer who has National Geographic credits. You should see my apartment, 13'x13 feet of wall-to-wall 20"x30" canvas prints of the cats I posted here.
Great photo's! I like your Tiger shot the best!

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/The Leica V-LUX 30 sells for $749 at B&H Camera. I got my case for free when I purchased my V-LUX 20 from B&H. They are a great camera shop. Great service, price & warranty. I buy all my gear, including my iPad, from them.

Thank you for the welcome and I look forward to seeing more of your photos.....
Bob, the fence is missing. How do you do that?

There are no fences in the big cat habitats, just Plexiglas windows. The secret to shooting through them is to get as square to the surface as possible to do away with any reflections or glare.
Great! I don't have any big cats lying around, just little doggies. Great shots.
