I am kinda new to the photography scene as a whole, I have taking probably thousands of photos but have decided to go back to school and get a associates degree in photography. I bought a canon rebel eos t3. good camera so far, but I have been taking all my photos in RAW per required for the class, now the photos all at once is coming up cr2 and I cant read the photos I am using light room 3. Can some one please help me. My teacher has no idea what I am even taking about.

cr2 IS RAW. I haven't used Light Room but most better photo programs will read RAW......maybe the settings in LR ?

The cr2 is even coming up on my computer as well. so I cant even look at them. I dont understand why the photos all at once started doing this. I went back into the light room program and every thing is set ok. I am really confused, But I do want to thank you for your help.

You can only open the RAW files in a photo program that you have....Windows or simpler file viewing programs can't read them !

If you have a Canon try the software Dpp that came with your camera. If they have the cr2 on them that is Canons designation for Raw.

ok thank you everyone. I finally got it figured out. I feel a bit silly but again thanks for all the help

I shoot Canon Raw all the time and get CR-2 files.
