My daughter plays a few musical instruments for a performing arts group, and i have become a member of helpers at their concerts. I have been asked to take some photo's of the upcoming concert (whilst they are playing and some shots of the performers with some special guests), but when i have taken photos at the location in the past they have come out all blurred and yellow looking.
They perform in an auditorium which has a high ceiling and brightish lights.
The camera i have is an CANON EOS350D, with the following equipment. EFS 18-55MM & zoom lens EF55-200MM, COBRA CX150 FLASH, i also have 2 tripods. If there is anyone out there that could help me with some settings or some advise I would realy appreciate it. Thanking you in advance.

I am sure that you will get more knowledgeable replies but with my limited knowledge I can only suggest that you find out the type of lighting that is there. That may be where the yellow (or washed) look is coming from. Your camera should have settings for different types of lighting.
You might want to try different settings at that location again, such as boosting the ISO, aperture etc. Good luck.

AS said by Jack47 - reset the "white Balance" to the type of lighting used to get rid of the yellow look - the blur is most likely caused by a slow shutter speed and moving musicians (or your hand shake = get a tripod) - all correctable by the exposure settings. You need a faster shutter speed but if the lighting is not bright enough you will get sharp but dark pictures -Assume you are shooting on "auto" -try going to "S" and up the shutter speed and see what the aperture goes to - if you can get an OK exposure with a speed of up to about 1/100s you should be good -If still not right - try an increase in the ISO Number (increases the sensitivity to light) or go to a flash which is probably not be allowed.. Suggest you go to a rehearsal and do some testing to see what will work in that specific environment.. I am not familiar with your camera but hope it has these adjustments .... K

Where in the UK

Forget tripods flash etc, even white balance can be corrected.

I use ISO 3200 to 6400

Depending on how far away the people are I would use the 18-55

Never had a lot of luck getting rid of fuzzy with white balance and just hate "noise from a really high ISO - but maybe they won't mind .. K

Hi Dickie and welcome! Can you post a shot or two so we can see what you are talking about? Could be the way your camera is setup or the lighting. Do your pictures come out good in other things you take?
But a picture with settings would help.

[quote=Dickie77]If you post a sample. Click on "store original" This allows us to check camera meta data and help you. I would say also that set the ISO at 800 or more and set the white balance to allow for type of lighting. David

I would go to the place the concert is going to be held and try a custom white balance and save it. Or go and make test shots in using color temperature I would start at 3200k and go both ways and see what looks best. Three of my six childern had music scolerships for their college. Enjoy the concerts. - Dave

I can not believe you are even contemplating shooting at 1/5th of a second at 200mm, the least you should be doing is matching the shutter speed to focal length, 200mm 1/200th.

1/3rd of a second W O W !

Get to 1200 or 3200 iso and set the camera on "T"

It also appears to me that there is a focus problem. Check out the lens AF or MF setting. If it is on manual and the camera is on auto, that would also explain some of the focus problem, also check the dioptric adjustment knob. I had problems with that until i found out it WAS that.
