Looking for a wide angle lens for my Nikon D40X.
Hands down, the AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G. It weighs in at just over two pounds and has a list price of only $1,999.95. Or, if you want a prime, there's the AF Nikkor 14mm f/2.8D ED for $1,894.95.
How wide do you want?
How big an aperture?
Do you want DX only or will you go to full frame or film?
What is your budget?
Are used equipment and/or non-Nikon lenses OK?

I like my Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6. Reasonable, has its own motor for AF, and is quite sharp. I often use mine set at 3 ft. manual focus as DOF is so great.
Also, I usually buy new if possible, as most warranties are for the original purchaser only. Ask me how I know about that.
How much is that lens? New and used.
Google price is always the best
