PSE 11 - “Make It Easy on Yourself”
When I want a “No BS Answer” to a Photographic question, I simply go to the UHH. So, conversely, I say this to all you good people: If you’re like me, (Especially at my age) when someone is going to teach me something that is fairly complicated, (Like PSE 11) I want two things; 1)…Keep your instructions short, and to the point and…2) Don’t tell me “How You Always Do It”, because I will develop my own style on my own! Like driving a car…. Just teach me how to do it correctly, and if I want to become a Race Car Driver, well, I will do it “MY WAY”. With that said… I will pass this on to you to make life easier if you are having trouble with PSE 11, or you are thinking about getting your feet wet as a beginner.

I have a fair amount of knowledge of PSE and the same for computers. I am very comfortable with PSE 11 (No Expert) but last month I bought the book “Teach Yourself Visually – Photoshop Elements 11” by: Mike Wooldridge & Brianna Stuart, just to add it to my collection of reference books.

I got it at Amazon for around $18 bucks.

This is one of; if not the best books I have ever read or have seen on the subject. There are no lessons, no theories, and no BS. This book will show you how….,Let me repeat that…,this book will “SHOW YOU HOW” to do ANYTHING you need to know to “DRIVE THE CAR”! I remember when everything I wanted to learn about in PSE, or HOW TO USE a tool, or navigate through the Jungle of PSE was a Hair Pulling, Nerve Racking, and a downright true test of Anger Management. This book is nothing but great colored images, with simple instructions. It’s like “Painting By The Numbers”. (I hope I’m not the only one who did this as a kid) Well, since I am not on the payroll for the authors of this book, I will now shut my big mouth. But if you want to make your PP learning curve to flatten out, and sleep good at night, do yourself a favor and buy this book. That’s all I have to say. Good Night! 8-) Thanks, Boone

I have "Photoshop Elements 11: The Missing Manual", and still have blood-pressure-raising situations. Thank you for your post - think I'll order your recommendation ASAP.
Cheers,

If you don't already know about it, there's a Photoshop Elements User group at www.photoshopelementsuser.com which might also be a good source of information and learning for you. It's a subscription service so you have to be willing to register. The group publishes a bi-monthly magazine and also offers tutorial articles, videos and a website all designed to help you get the most out of Elements. Check it out. You might like it.

Type only "teach yourself visually" in the search box. There are a series of books that will appear. The PSE11 is one of them. $19.23 in print and $18.27 e-version.

Google search found it - on Amazon! Don't know what happened to Amazon's search function.

It would be nice if a workbook for Elements 8-11 were available online.

I looked it over and signed up six months ago. As part of the subscription you get some helpful DVDs with video tutorials.
