The bird has been hanging around for a couple of days, and seems to like the roof of the garage. At first I didn't think it had any feathers, looks a bit nekkid. It is quite far away, so the zoom is pretty heavy and it is hand held. Just looking for an ID

Pigeon or ?

There are over 300 species of pigeons or doves. The name is interchangeable but in common practice the smaller ones like the mourning dove are referred to as 'doves' while the larger ones get referred to as pigeons.

I've never noticed the difference.

Do you know the particular species of this pigeon? We have lots of Dove around here to and this is significantly larger. Strange looking one to say the least, reminded me of a cartoon where all the feathers got blown off in the wind  It does however have feathers, but from a distance it was hard to tell that  Thanks for the comment

I think it is a Rock Pigeon, one of the common ones you see in parks. Most are gray but they come in any number of colors including pure white.

Because of the bright red feet, this appears to be a juvenile bird, probably less than 3 months old, and barely out of the nest. (The feed darken down as the bird matures, somewhere around six months.) Lacking the cobby shape of a pigeon, this individual appears to be a dove or dove hybrid. (Yes, they can interbreed.) The photo is an excellent expository work, clear and clean.
