Now that there is a movement to ban the sale of currently made, and forbid the future production of pressure cookers because of their high facility in bomb deployment, maybe the NRA could shift its focus. ;)

I think you give the NRA credit for more power than they actually have.

We could only wish but I am not optimistic. We are being held hostage by a highly motivated minority.

Since before the Olymipcs bombing in Atlanta, and continuing right up to the present, the NRA has worked tirelessly to defeat every measure that has been introduced in Congress to require gun powder manufacturers to include what are know as taggants in the manufacturing process.

These taggants make it easier to identify where and when gunpowder used in explosives like those used in Boston were made and possibly who it was sold to. Once again the mythical power of this insidious organization rears its ugly head in the face of a tragedy to show its true colors.

Brainwashed!

One can only hope that this is another knife in the heart of this truly un-American organization and that it dies a swift, public death by disgust. It doesn't represent the interests of gun owners, it only serves to protect the manufacturers of guns and ammunition. Hopefully this latest revelation will wake up the mass of Americans so that they can rise up in protest of what this evil organization does to pervert the legislative process in this country.

Obama's latest attempt at gun control failed because those voting on the bill realized that the new laws would have done nothing to stop any of the shootings of the past few.

I wouldn't credit them with using any common sense or logic. They always act based on what is in their personal best interest as to their careers and power. I know of no current exceptions within the gang of thieves in the District of Criminals.

How many will have to die in the USA before people wake up to gun laws, or should I say, when will s few HIGH RANKING senators or their children die to finally convince them, because obviously the deaths of ordinary people don't matter.

Let us hope the gun lovers never have a family member killed and then change their opinionated views, hypicritically

The oppressive gun laws in England didn't seem to stop the Hungerford and Cambria massacres. More laws are not a panacea.

Contrary to popular thought and practice, minorities are not always wrong. That is an indirect appeal to argumentum ad populem which is faulty logic. The majority is often wrong and history is replete with examples.

So you don't like the racial laws that make eveyone equal (miniority equal to majority), you don't like religious freedom (not everyone belongs to the majority religious group), you don't like freedom of speech (there will always be someone in the miniority speaking) Soooo, according to you, only those in the majority rule! Better read the Constitution! As a matter of fact that is exactly why the Bill of Rights were written into it. To protect the rights of the miniority against the majority.

Secondly, I find your opinion of you being in the majority somewhat questionable. It really suprises me when talking to various people how many say they are not for more gun control, rather they want the core problem taken care of, the mentally ill that are being ignored through this. And it seems that is the one thing that anti-gunners are not talking about. Common sense seems to be rampent, execpt in the anti-gun camp.

MADD blames drunk drivers totally for their actions, and doesn't project the cause upon an object that can't do anything till an idiot command's control over it. I have yet - ever seen car keys jump into the hands of a drunk and demand to be put into the ignition so it can go out and be driven drunk. Common sense says a gun can load itself, and jump into the hands of a person and demand to be used either! That is - execpt for the anti-gun'ers. Miraculously, that is exactly what anti-gunners say happens!

If you are in the majority - common sense seems to be on vacation.

Hey JR, I hear Piers Morgan is comming home!

Just by-the-by, there is a program on radio here in the UK where the panellists, among other things, provide alternative definitions for familiar words. Rumour has it (I didn't hear it myself, so this may be apochryphal) that Stephen Fry defined the word "countryside" as "the killing of Piers Morgan".

An effective way to address gun ownership and gun control with your neighbor/friends is to request the following:
Ask them to place a sign in their front yard proclaiming that they don't believe in guns and do not own one.
They will of course refuse. Ask them why? The real reason that they won't is they would prefer for criminals to think that they might own a gun. They want to ride on the coat-tails of people that want to protect their loved ones and keep what is theirs.
