Famous Martin MARS aircraft, formerly the Hawaiian Mars, a luxury passenger seaplane, converted to a very effective and reliable firefighter by adding internal water tanks; in just 27 seconds of skimming the surface (controlled by flight engineer) it has provided an almost continual action with little turnaround time in fighting wildfires in southern California. Outstanding shots of a very unique aircraft.
There are five different aircraft depicted.
We live in South Dakota and are in a drought even though the summer is not here as of yet and we are also in an area in the Black Hills where the pine beetles have killed off Acres of trees so they are just inviting a fire. if not for the big fire fighters like these we would be in a world of hurt. There was a fire in Pringle last year where the crew of one of the big birds went down with a total loss of life these men are brave beyond words and I can't imagine what a forest fire would be like if the only thing we had was the men on the ground.Great pictures and a great topic and one that only those who have had to live through the threat of a forest fire would understand my wife and I lived through one with it being stopped about 1/4 mile away from out house. God Bless and be safe !!!
There are 6 different Aircraft but they are all done real good I only wish he had more a lot more God Would Have to Be Their Co-Pilot!!!

When I posted my reply he had only posted three pics. Granted, the second one is a different aircraft. So call me an idiot. Now, get a life.
I am sure that the #1 and #3 are the same plane the Number on both are 223 so that gives us 1- then a Lockheed P-3 in Picture 2 that is two different Aircraft, then the Huey in picture 4 that is 3 different Aircraft, then the yellow and black seaplane at Camp Pendleton that makes it 4 different Air Craft, Then there is the Hemet-Ryan Grumman S-2 for a total of 5 different Air craft, now I think that 1,3,and 5 may be of the same type but I am not so sure.
