Ok heres a couple with that lens. You will need to get a T-mount adaptor for your camera for it to mount correctly. Also remember it will be an all manual lens...all you can really adjust in-camera is iso and shutter.

Very nice photos. You used the 500mm Mirror Lens correct?

Are you sure the last one was a cat, as I would have expected the highlights to have been rings

As in the 4th one here

Don't be talked out of a Cat (mirror lens) you only have to adjust the iso and shutter speeds, stay above 1/500th and you will be fine

No these are with the Bower 500mm F8...not a mirror lens. I thought about getting one but really didn't like the background effects so I opted for this one instead.

Actually those aren't bad looking shots JR with that lens...might have to give it a second thought.

I think it was 119 dollars and 19 bucks for a t-mount ring from B&H. Takes a bit of work to get some really nice shots...kinda fun to play with...and learn with. All these shots are hand held as this lens is not very heavy at all.

You can get one of the old Spiratone Sharpshooter T mount 400mm F6.3 preset lenses on eBay for a song. A lot cheaper than the Bower or any of the newer ones on eBay...Simple lenses, not for action shots though but better than a Mirror lens IQ wise...

I second the comment. I have used a Minolta/Sony f8 500mm Reflex for 3 years on Sony A550 & A580. It is a light weight, auto-focusing, 750mm on the APS-C Alphas. Nice lens to work with on a bright day. Bokeh sometimes needs a little PP. Makes good images even hand held.

If you get it try it on flowers--it will be great to isolate them from the background--but make sure--really sure--you don't have bright spots in the background--All in all you should have some fun with it--and any photographer working in the 50's would have killed to own it--we are pretty spoiled.
