I took this photo yesterday & it comes out at only 368KB (this is straight out of camera). This has me confused as files are usually c.2MB. Can anyone tell me what's going on? The second pic is cropped & sharpened & is 593KB (even odder!). Any help appreciated.
Camera: Nikon D200 with Sigma 150-500. Shooting JPEG
Many thanks in advance.
Moon - straight out of camera
Cropped & sharpened.
You are recording an almost blank picture, other than the moons surface there is no information to record and the moon is in black and white so the file size is reduced even further.
Nice photos

File compression accounts for the small file sizr. Since so much of the photo consists of idential pixels RGB (0,0,0) a great deal of compression is possible.
