I take photos and create a slide show with music and transition effects for family members. They are always a big hit. I also incorporate little video clip of the subject blowing the camera a kiss and other such things. For my mother I included an effect that morphed a baby picture into a picture of the grand-kids at their current age. I time certain pictures to particular lines in the song ect so the song, images and effects all have significance. It sounds like a difficult project but with the right software (much of it can be found for free) it is easy and they are a great keepsake. If the file sizes were not so big I would upload an example.

I had a canvas print done at Costco. No outer frame, just canvas wrapped around the sides. I love it.

I think calendars are a great idea, cause each month that goes by, a new page with a new photo you've taken. Also, as someone mentioned above, 'Thank You' cards or small other cards, would be an excellent choice too. People are always sending *thank you* etc. cards for various reasons which they would have to buy, and calendars can be bought in various stores, Wal Mart, Target, grocery stores, etc.... that is unless they have their own companies make them. The city I live in gives each household a big calendar each year, however, they usually have pics of sights of the city. But they are really nice.

Why not have plastic cards for billfolds with a small calendar on the back and your pic on the front. Don't know how many people use these, but I did at one time. Now.. I have a card from an Auto repair shop, with a pic of their place on the front and phones, address, etc on the back.... cause most of the cards I pick up here and there rarely have anything on the other side... so that's something to think about.

I am a stainglasser and have been putting pictures between glass to make necklaces, bookmarks, and ornaments. I have been doing it for others with their pics as well. Send an email address if you would like more info.

I like the various photo items available at most vendors. Example: necktie, apron, playing cards, magazine covers, etc. Walgreens has a great selection. Costco is less expensive, but does not offer as many items.

I've been working on my family genealogy for about 20 years. Last year I made up a beautiful fan chart with my childrens' names with their ancestors going back about 5 generations. It has vines and roses on it. I bought some beautiful antique looking frames (on sale for 1/2 price!!) and gave them to the kids for Christmas. This year I took some pictures from our area - lakes, rivers, wild animals, fall leaves, etc - put the pictures on note cards and sold them at a craft fair. Will now box them up for gifts for this Christmas.

I use Microsoft Word to create note cards using a selection of my photos from the previous year. I print them two to a sheet of standard 8.5 x 11 card stock and include envelopes and postage stamps in a hand made card box decorated with one of the selected images. I make templates for horizontal and vertical images that can be reused by just changing the image.

I usually make calendars for the family that feature my photos, and everyone in the families birthdays, anniversaries etc..., but would like to do something different this year. Any ideas??

I have done the calendar thing for years but featured one family member each month by making a collage of each individual with photos from as many years when possible including a 80 year old pic of my mom and a 65 year old pic of me in a dress (my grandkids got am real kick out of seeing grandpa in a dress. I really loved my grandma but I sure wish she never put that dress on me.

I am new to posting here so I hope this works. I am away from home this weekend but do have a some information I can share. The only change is that I also have "shepard hook" bookmarks that I sell for $8 and if you want to add your own pictures to the necklaces it is $1 extra per side for each necklace. The unique thing about these charms is that there is a picture on each side so you actually end up with 2 necklaces in one. I started making these as a fundraiser for MN Ovarian Cancer and they have been a HUGE hit. Many purchased with my pictures as well as personalized for many. A great gift for grandmas or new moms with baby pictures on them.
