i happen to like the look of the edited white flowers. It has pop and really stands out. realistic is way overrated any way. Op very nice work, post more please.
Hi Sinatraman, I have finished my advanced photo class and am now back. Looking forward to seeing more great photos on this site.
I never photo shopped my photos however I shoot a lot of wildlife and many times a quick color or sharpness adjustment will make a good photo a great photo.

Wrei, this one of my favorites. Would you please show me what will kick this up a notch?
Talking it over
I am an old film guy and agree with yu that the shot should be as near perfect as possible right out of the camera.

Pictures taken with a digital camera tend to be "soft". Most of them need a little push in photo editing by either increasing the contrast and/or using the unsharpen tool.
I agree the first were soft but somewhere in between his and yours is a nice flower.. I think that is Over sharpened..
I kinda like the softness of your flower image. Flowers are in themselves soft and your picture conveys that quality. It may not please the techies but will certainly appeal to the artists, That doesn't sound quite right, I don't mean to disparage the techies.

Sorry but I like to give pictures a "little kick". My personal style, not appreciated by many of my collegues.
This is nice ;)
My comment was in reference to the single yellow rose.. i see it looks likee I was commenting on the group of flowers which I feel are now over prooccessed. ISn't it fun taking photos and learning?

Thank you bigcoz, I agree with you, to a point. It looked a little dull in its "natural" state to me. But the new version is too bright, or over processed. Guess I better learn the proper terminology. JacLee
this is a lot like me: kinda brown and crinkly along the edges.
then again, i might look like hot chili peppers.
black-eyed susans, i think not.
btw, i like the way your flowers and birds interact. [the touched-up version]. it looks like a perfect painting.

I like your flowers too and I make a lot of photos of flowers for later reference. One thing I try to always do is make certain I have all the petals in the shot, unless it's otherwise intentional...like just photographing the middle of a sunflower, etc. When you focus on just one or two blossoms, I think it detracts from the overall photo to have made such a simple miscalculation. And I think your 'soft' look comes from the light you had that day. My photos turn out really crisp with plenty of sunshine, even if I'm in the shade, and less sunny days can make a softer look to anything, even mushrooms.
I like the way some of the photo-shop stuff looks, but I think you should not rely on that to make your photography 'look better' You should aim for making a good photograph to begin with, and then......
