Don't spend much time there by yourself at night.

You might want to read up on the Park before you go because it has an interesting history. I used to think that it was just a section of Manhattan that was set aside as a park. As it turns out, the Park was actually designed and constructed. On many of the large boulders you can see horizontal scratches pointing north and south. Those were caused by the glacier during the last ice age.

Funny, I just read an article about it yesterday. It stated that due to it being an oasis in the city, many migrating birds stop in during the spring. Until I read that article, I would of never thought of NYC for bird watching.

There's lots of wildlife in Central Park. That why I warned about going there at night - very wild life.

If you have time you might want to check out the Botanical gardens for they are having the Orchids show which I went to twice and its beautiful but if you do then I suggest that you buy your tickets on line at nybgshop.org.

Not to worry. If he is there alone at nite he won't be alone very long.

alot of the stone bridges are great to shoot, the fountain and arch. You may run into some local talent playing instruments or juggling. I wouldn't waste too much time in the zoo, it's not that big and it's nothing to write home about. It's been about 2 years since I was last there and I took a great shot of my girls on this big rock, don't remember exactly where it is, but you'll know it when you see it. Remember to have fun!

I remember when I was a little kid, my mother was in a panic trying to get out of the park quickly because it was getting dark. She held my hand tightly and walked faster than I had even seen her walk.

Hi, GC. I used to live in NY from 1984-2010 (now lives in L.A.). I would like to suggest to go there early, pack light and start at 5th Ave.& 60th street then head uptown: The Bedrock, Sheep meadow, Heckschere ball fields, The Great Lawn, Turtle Pond, Central Park Carousel, "The Mall"which will lead you to the "Ornamental Water Fountain", The Lake, the Terrace, Boat House, Bow bridge and Belvedere Castle, And on the east side: The Conservatory Pond, Alice in Wonderland, Hans Christian Andersen. There's also the Juggler, Sax player with the drummer, The acrobats and lots of artists, etc. Good luck.

Get on the web (centralparknyc.org) and get a map. Then if you enter on the West Side start at Strawberry Fields (Lennon/ Yoko) and head into the Park going south towards the Lake. Good vantage point at Cherry Hill and Bow Bridge. See Bethesda Fountain and surrounding area. Just beyond that is Pilgrim's Hill and the flowering trees s/b in fullbloom. Go south down the Mall for one of the last great Elm Tree displays in the USA and / or go North to Belvedere Castle. Park s/b spectacular. If time is available get up to 5th Ave and 106th St to see the Conservancy Gardens with spectacular flowering crabs.Lots to see start early. I've got thousands of CP pics.

We are in Central Park alot on Sundays......all the bridges you will see in the park are all different in some way.You can check out the zoo off of 5th Avenue if you will have children with you.The bridge near the ice rink and the bridge near Bethesda Terrace are beautiful areas for pics.Have breakfast at the Boathouse.Visit the Ramble and find the goldfish pond.
Further north in the park, you can find Cleopatra's Needle, the 48 tennis courts, the reservoir, and the North Woods.Maps are available so you should have no problem getting around.
The Conservatory is a must see.....its off of 5th Avenue at 105th Street,so wear sneakers if you venture up there....it a beautiful part of the park.
Enjoy your trip.

By the way, across from Central Park is the Museum of Natural History, to me that is a must see.

Back from my weekend in NYC and a great Sunday in Central Park !!! Lots of photos. I will post some in a bit. One of my maybe's while down in NYC was to maybe get over to B&H Photo, but we were just way too much on the go already. It was her birthday weekend not mine so we had other things planned !!! Much to my surprise when checking in to the Doubletree Hotel on Lexington was an advertisement on the front side of the key card !!!
