Hi forum. I'm looking to step up my camera body and I'm looking for advice. I currently have a Canon Digital Rebel XTI. I'm looking to get a refurbished but I'm not sure which model to get. Advice? Suggestions?

Need to know more info first 1. What your budget is and 2. what you shoot
People who do portraits are different to sports...etc
Otherwise it's like asking what car to buy and not telling people you have five children
Yes need more info, If you want entry level, the Canon t3i.

V, Like all would love to put my Two Cents in, just very light on background. What lenses do you currently have? How long have you had Xti body. What do you shoot IE landscapes, people, sports, animals etc. What is your motivation for moving from the current body. I am Canon guy. I have shot Xti and all Rebels as wells xxD & xD cameras.
Hope you can help us with this info so we can help you. Refurbs are a cost effective way to go.
as you already own a canon and are familiar with how it works i would first stick with what you know.budget is a big factor with a new body but as im guessing you already have lensed which makes cheeper in just buying a body without lenses.
What do you generally shoot ie nature, sports, street, landscape, people or portrait.if its sport or nature a good crop body ie a 7d which i own is a great camera that offers a aute focus for moving objects.not saying buy a 7d just using as a guide.sport generally =speed fps.
portrait and landscape i would go a full frame i use a 1dsii great price for alot of camera or go a 5dii for a budget buy.
if your after a big gun(walet burner)5diii,1dsiiii or a 1dx.
let us know how you go and what you choose!

Do you want to stay with Canon?
Their is a lot of great camera's being produced. Do a little research and buy what you want not what someone want's you to buy.

I would suggest that the OP is doing some research and using UHH as part of his effort.

How much of a step up are you willing to take. Canon sells refurbs from the entry level T3 all the way up to the 7D.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone.
The gear I currently have is a Canon Digital Rebel XTI along with the 18-55 that came with the camera. A 75-300 that is not IS. I have a nice tripod for using this one. A 50mm prime that I just picked up and haven't had much of a chance to play with yet.
I'm sticking with Canon.
As for what I shoot, I do a little bit of everything. I just finished an event photography gig at the Baltimore Flag House but I also hike so there are a lot of outdoor photos in my collection.
I've done a few portraits but I'd say the outdoor and event photography are my primary venues.
As for a budget, I really don't have one. I'll pick what I want and save up to get it so price, while it needs to be as low as possible, isn't a primary concern.
Thanks for all the responses so far. I appreciate everyone's input.
Mike
