Look into the Super tele Zoom (24mm to 1200mm) Canon SX50 HS, selling for well under your stated price level. Look up its specs. It provides much for the price. Written up in Digital Photo April 2013 issue. I'm goin' for it -- to work along with my 5D Mark II and lenses.

SX50 is a GREAT camera!! Enjoy not having to change lenses!

Sorry to be a misery, but don't print above 6 X 4 unless you had full sun behind you...

8x10 & 11x 14 look good so far!! And I don't need anything bigger than that.

I've looked up nice, under $700 cameras that would be nice for nature, bird, and everyday shots. In my research I've been drawn to checking out the Nikon D3100. Any suggestions on whether or not this is a good option or not would be MUCH appreciated! :XD: If not, what would be a high definition, far shooting, under $800 camera. ALL suggestions are greatly appreciated. I look forward to the comments ! THANKS

Have a look at a Canon Powershot SX50 HS at street prices of $429 or less. 14mm to 1200mm OPTICAL zoom ! See article on it and competitors in April 2013 issue of Digital Photo magazine, probably available at most good bookstores, or at your local library. Pretty great
Big zoom compact. I'm getting one to partner with my 5D Mark II.

Thanks! I'll take all the tips into consideration  . "Morning at the birdbath" was great too! Loved the color on the crackle

I had "MY BIG RIG" at the park shooting Osprey when the camera quit ( 1D Mk II ) battery issue. I had my P510 with me and continued to shoot til I could swap the big lens to the 60D body.
Images were gorgeous with the P510
