This Lightroom tutorial is really good. It cost $39, and it has separate videos, each one explaining in detail how to use the different features of Lightroom. I'm doing the section on bringing in your photos right now, and I'm so glad I am watching this before I started using it, because setting up the way you bring your photos in can really be helpful. I will give updates as I go through the different tutorials. If you are a "dummy" like me...this is for you! Oh, and sign up for the free tutorials via email before you buy. That's how you get the discount price of $39 instead of $49.

Lightroom Training does not get any better than this:
http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/lightroom-training-videosand this is free. Julianne Kost works for Adobe and has posted most if not all of her training videos for LR as well as PS on her blog, linked above.
This looks like an amazing sight, and I will definitely view the tutorials on it in addition to the ones I am currently viewing. I am glad that I spent the money for the one I have, though, because it is very helpful in getting me started off on the right foot, so I don't have a big unorganized mess of photos. It is step by step for a person that knows absolutely nothing about post processing.

Totally agree with your post.....I also subscribe to LYNDA.COM and Kelby Training - and pay for those sites as well as NAPP which has great tutorials. But....Julianne is so thoroughly versed in Adobe products, LR and CS users should watch her tutorials for the great tips, tricks, and inside info that is updated when new releases are made public.
I meant to add, you can find more info - as in Photoshop and LR at her site

Thanks for all the good info, and it seems admin is always moving me...I try to get it right, but often fail at that.

One thing that is most valuable about the "Lightroom Made Easy" tutorial is that his separate videos are done in the order that you need to set up your light room. I have Microsoft Scanner and Wizard, IB for Olympus, CS5, and Picassa. My photos are everywhere, I know how to use each program just a little bit, and it's a mess. Steele's very first video shows you how to bring those files in from your camera, an external drive, or from someplace on your computer, and then how to organize them so you can find them. How can you edit and store your photos effectively unless you keep it organized? Finally I am learning a program from start to finish, not just little pieces here and there.
"Some of your photos are gold, some of them are silver, and some of them are lead, probably lots of them are lead. Don't be one of those photographers that takes 300 photos and posts 300 photos to Facebook. Be your own toughest critic." Lightroom Made Easy advice. More on how Lightroom makes this easier in my next post.
As you are going through a group of imported photos you can just type x when you come to a photo that is one you possibly do not want to keep. Lightroom then grays out, and flags that photo for future deletion. This is a quick way of going through all the photos and sorting them out. On your second pass through, you can just type u for "unpick" on an x'd photo if you decide that it's one you want to keep.
