Willow warbler was the latest favourite until I read they are on the amber list as they are getting rarer so going back to Chiffchaff as it's only their song that really is different between the two :)

I am sticking with Chiffchaff which is nice as it's a different bird to visit our garden.

I have put out more feeders of different types than ever since getting a camera, there is more to photography than just taking pictures, I am now helping to look after our local wildlife too :D

Thanks for everyone's offerings.

Apart from their song the Chiffchaff and willow warbler are almost identical so until I can hear it sing I won't know for sure. Hopefully I will be seeing more of it whatever it is :)

From the excellent photos (have you tried snapping the little birds?) the best match I can make is a Chiff Chaff. The plumage of the Chiff Chaff is similar to that of a Willow Warbler. Did it call or sing i.e. did it go "chiff-chaff"? It most certainly is not a Dunnock.
Keep up the photography!

This was a what was that moment as something very fast darted down on my patio amongst the pots so I grabbed my always available camera and snapped it. I will certainly be looking out for the little fellow and listening for a different song.

Hi, I think this is a Chiffchaff but it could easily be a Willow warbler. the two can easily be confused. to be sure you need to here it call or sing. Lovely little bird, mainly a spring/summer visitor but some do overwinter.
Regards Mike
