D600 Oil Spot Class Action Lawsuit.

Finally took my D600 in for sensor de-oiling. $110 for the cleaning.

Has anyone heard of a class action consumer protection lawsuit against Nikon?

Beaucoup bucks for the lawyers, peanuts for the consumers.

But Nikon should step up and take care of their customers.

Any camera maker will deny a defect until proof is shoved down its throat. Once the message got through to Nikon, they agreed to make free necessary repairs, although they stopped short of issuing a recall. By the way, if all you had done was cleaning the sensor, don't be too terribly disappointed if you experience a MINOR recurrence; the real problem is reported to have come from the mirror mechanism, which apparently made the cause of the problem hard to diagnose.

Mule, whatever you do don't call Nikon, they don't even know there is a problem. I you want to know for sure, just call Canon.

Nikon does know of this problem and they will fix and also pay shipping. They said not to clean yourself and send only to Nikon Service, not their affiliates for repair.
You can call them at 800-NIKON USA

My experience with this process went flawlessly. When they were finished working on the camera, they over-nighted it back to me. I have no complaints with Nikon, and would buy the D600 all over again. I love it.
