Our Poppies have arrived. I can see the orange cast on the hills starting to show, soon it will look like they are on fire. My yard will be covered with them which makes mowing the grass difficult because I hate to mow them down so we end up with big poppy clumps all over.
This picture was taken in the house because the wind had kicked up. I was using my new lens which I believe is a huge improvement in the sharpness of my pictures. It's a Cannon 2.8 Macro EF 100mm USM Prime Lens. I had the ISO at 100 and the aperture at f/14 to give me a greater DOF. I also had a Macro ring attached to the end of my lens for light. I am liking my new toys. I can't wait until I have some time to get out and take some outdoor pictures and compare them to my previous stuff.
I took this with 12 bracketed shots at 1 ev apart then ran them through Photomatix and PSE 10 to clean up the CA I had where the poppy an daffodil met. Then put it through a Topaz filter and cropped it a bit tighter. C&C welcome.

Very nice..sharp & vivid...I like it..:)
Think it is very well done but think perhaps the HDR does not compliment the subject...Perhaps too grungy. Matter of personal taste.

Very nice, thanks for posting it. I like the effect the ring light has on the background in flower photos.
I like the composition of the flowers, against the dark back ground. I am wondering why the center of the daffodil is blurred when the rest is in focus. It looks like you apply a Gaussian blur to it.

Hi thanks for looking...That's a good question I think it's because I was so close to it and the daffodil sticks out. That's my guess. I was photographing it straight on not at an angle.

Thank you Steveiboy Ya it's a bit over the top for some, but I kind of like that look personally.
Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice the only suggestions I can offer is that for my taste the crop is tight. I often print my flower photos on canvas and you would need more space around them for an attractive piece for a wall. The second point is the blue banding on the stems I would cut the stems from one of the images and layer them over these stems. You could use topaz adjust to balance the exposure of the cut in stems.

Point taken RixPix, I had not even thought of what it would look like in print. I also agree, and should have thought of layer masking the natural stems. I was rushing to get it done, I was tired, but I wanted to post it and was getting so late. (I envy those people here who have the luxury of retirement.) Sometimes I just have to remind myself ...Slow down turbo
