I have always used Nikon since the early 70's. The only problem has been auto focus on one non Nikor lens.

To me, it's just a variation of the Chevy/Ford thing.

I'm sure there are many older Guitar players that still can remember the "Gibson / Fender" thing as well.

Dig that!

If Nikons are so good then why are there so many posts complaining about their problems???

I'm a Canon guy. I have an EOS 5D MK II and arefurbished EOS 7D and have no problems with either of them.

Hmmm - a scientific sample of.....one. You have not been paying attention and heard all the wailing about the Canon Autofocus problems - or the mirror falling off. In the business the joke is that Canon is Japanese for, "ship now, fix later."

Both are excellent brands and both have had phenomenal cameras and both have had their share of issues. Neither would be as good as they are today had it not been for the competition with the other.

I've been using Nikon cameras since 1959, and find no reason to change to the Canon family. I also use 'Blads and a 5x4 Sinar. I am happy with them all.

It's all in the numbers, when you have more owners of a better product, (of anything for that matter) your bound to have more complaints...fewer owners, fewer complaints. Besides, squeaky wheels gets the oil...or improvements. :-P

The cameras are as good as the users - both are top quality but the Nikon lenses are a touch sharper and have better Bokeah.

The simple answer is that there are so many more Nikons as compared to brand X it is statistically impossible not to have more complaints vs. Nikon.

I started out in the 60s using Nikon. Dropped out of Photography for few years. Started back up using Canon. Changed back to Nikon. I have driven both. Enjoyed both.

Driving cameras is like driving high performance cars -- most skills (mine included) are less than those necessary to fully exercise and take to the equipment to the extreme.

Porsche, Cobra, Corvette/Nikon, Canon, Sony -- it is all about what you like and enjoy driving at the time, while sometimes pushing the limits of your skill level. It is the journey.

Make sense?

1. We have some many Nikon owners here.
2. Nikon owners are very particular.
3. What seems like a problem is often just a misunderstanding.
4. Many people prefer a Nikon with a possible "problem" to a Canon. :D
