Nice job--- I have this treatment on one of my PP programs but since I seldom take portraits I haven't used it. You certainly show how it can inhance a beautiful shot to make it even better.........
Absolutely beautiful composition ....I would like to see some softer tones in the skin...her eyes are lovely and would be nice to have some highlight in them...subtle changes always produce the best results. The image moves me at a number of levels....very contemplative
I can't thank everyone enough for all the wonderful and kind feedback!
I use Paint Shop Pro for all my image editing. I started about 15 years ago and am still learning! I tried Photo Shop but it was too complicated for me to master. PSP seems much simpler, probably because I've grown right along with the program!! The first thing I did, since this is a digital image, was to sharpen it and increase the contrast. Then I enhanced all edges, I duplicated the layer and applied a colored chalk filter and reduced the opacity quite a bit. Yeah I know, but overlay didn't give quite the right look! I merged the two layers. Then I placed a texture layer on top and reduced the opacity on it. And this was the outcome. And yep, I'm an OOOOLD master! I turned seventy this year. LOL Grandma Moses is my inspiration!
Oh, and I plan to have it printed on a 12x14 gallery wrap canvas.
What a precious face! It looks like a wonderful shot to make a jigsaw puzzle.

This is my granddaughter, Kalyssa. Her expression and the way the wind was blowing her hair somehow reminded me of a painting by some old master. So I tried to make the photo resemble a painting. I really like the effect.
The main thing is that you started out with a great photo. The lighting is good as is the composition and you captured a beautiful expression from your Granddaughter. The post process filter and texture you chose complements your original and gives you the effect you were looking for without being overdone. Nice work and you have a beautiful Granddaughter.

Not nearly large enough. For an image this wonderful, I would go at least 20x24. . .with a large antiqued gold frame.
Stunning image. Well done!

I agree! This is one to pass down to generations!
Wow thats a neat picture, great expression, looks like she is getting ready to smile or frown and I like the effect. Wide eye look very nice. I'll have to try that with the grand kids.
