I got the chance to order me a Lensmaster RH-2 Gimble head
this morning and I need a good heavy duty Tripod for it.
I will be using a Canon 7D and 100-400 l Lens. Here is a link
to the RH-2.
http://www.lensmaster.co.uk/rh1.htmI will be using it for Landscape, Wild Life and BIF's. Some one
suggested a Manfrotto 72 Inch.
Any suggestions? mdh

I have a manfrotto, Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod, and the Giottos MTL9351B, the giottos is MUCH more stable
I use the RH2 on a Manfrotto 055XPROB and I find it very stable using a Canon 1D Mk2 or a 60D with 100-400 lens.
RH2 was suggested by JR and I love the thing, I have not tried it on a carbon fiber tripod.

Cullmann magneset, cant remember the model, with RH 2, also recommended by JR
no issues yet as the pod legs have sharp spikes
And another review ...

I use a surveyors tripod with an adapter to standard 1/4 x 20 thread. Both are available at Sears for about $80.00. Warning - it is heavy but absolute rock solid.

JR1, Thank you JR you have been most helpful and a lot
of other UHH folks agree with your choice. I will probably
go with the Gitzo. Again Thanks mdh

I don't believe anyone has ever gone wrong with Gitzo/Manfrotto or Giottos
I have never seen one but many do say three legged friend are god
JR1 Thanks and I am trying to get some good shots of
Eagles Nesting and Flying and the old arms get tired
holding the 7D and 100-400 L up for long. I am working
with the welding shop at our Technical School here to
help build me a light aluminum support with remote trigger.

Good for you dh ! Hope you're happy with your British-built gimbal !
When making any buying decision it's always good to have "options & choices". Here's a possible tripod option for you from a UK manufacturer, new in the game, but "snapping at the heels" of the big boys, and very definitely competitive on price -
http://www.redsnapperuk.com/camera-accessories/RedSnapper_Tripods.htmlI have the RSF-284 @£69.95 ($106) which compares highly with the Manfrotto 055XProB @ £140 ($212)
craggycrossers, Thank you for the information. mdh
