Living in Homer, Alaska there are numerous photo opportunities not the least of which is the many eagle shots. A lot of the residents call them "beach buzzards" and here's a few photos that I took:

Those are great. I was in Homer last July. Took a halibut fishing trip. Really enjoyed the 4 hour sunsets!

Some of my best eagle pics are from the Spit.

Speaking of "Beach Buzzards", in Maine seagulls are called "Dump Ducks!"

Have you ever gone up to Eagle River in the winter where the lady feeds the eagles on Sunday morning @ 11:00 quite a sight counted over 80 at one time last winter

No I haven't. There used to be a lady at the end of the Homer Spit that regularly fed the eagles with scraps from the processing plants. She used to draw quite a crowd (both eagles and people) for the feedings. Unfortunately, she passed away and I don't believe anyone has taken her place...in fact I believe the feds are enforcing the law that prohibits feeding the birds. Nat Geo had an article about the Homer eagle lady and the birds
