A few more just to demo versatility. Now, this should give you an idea of what this lens might be able to do in the right hands that aren't old and shaky... Go for it!
Here is one taken with the 400 hand held with the Canon 6D Body. Have found the 400 fixed far superior to the 100-400 which I found to be too inconsistent. Percentage of keepers much higher with the fixed and image quality generally much better. Don't forget to keep your shutter speed up. A monopod is a big help
My best,
Steve

Has anyone got a canon ef400 f/5.6 lens can show some images
Two more photos with the Canon EF 400 f5.6 L.
Grandson playing little league (American football). The pictures are hand held approximately 50 meters away. Bright sunshine really helps this lens perform.
Good stop-action shots...
Thanks everyone for all your nice photos sold the ef 400 f/2.8 today so now shopping for the 5.6
Here are a few with the f/5.6
Sorry. I should have sent the originals, they are much sharper than they look here. For the $$$$, it would be hard to beat this lens. I'd buy the f/2.8, but then I'd be sleeping in my car.
Yes I had the mk2 and boy it was too heavy for me, good pictures

Nice group of shots pigpen. I particularly like the fox.
Bird awesome images by the way I think you might have set your camera body on the "Spot on" focus point to capture those shots.
Beginer's question. If I shoot my 400/5.6 at f11 on my 6D-is that the same as using a 2X wide open? Thank you.
