I have this picture of Jesus holding a baby, my friend asked me to get rid of that baby and put a pic of her friends baby in its place. I tried adobe photelements but I'm not making a nice picture. does anyone have ideas on how to do this nicely and effectively :-( :-( :-(
It all depends on which Elements you have? Ideally, you need a Photoshop with a Layers Palette.
i have photo elements 6 and it has layers
Use the picture of jesus as your first layer. The get the picture of your friends baby and trace around the baby then copy it to your jesus picture. Selecting layer two, erase what you don't want from the baby picture. 8-)
I have no expertise but that sounds a really nice thing to do.
Go to my stats and click on my site. You will see b and w with color. That is layering 8-)
I suggest using "Smart Photo Editor". It's a program I downloaded FREE, and it has a "change background" feature that will do what you want. (backwards) Can I recommend FREE? You bet.
This is a bit more complicated then it might at first seem.
The Jesus print will have a texture/color cast/ lighting amount/ lighting direction/ etc. to it. I assume it may be an illustration... as, well... not many photos of Jesus out there other then a stain on a wall or a cloud or a burnt piece of toast... ;0)
Your baby photo will have its own texture/exposure/color cast/lighting/resolution, etc., when you combine them, even if you so a stellar job in the silhouetting, it will be apparent they are two images combined.
So do this, upload them both and we'll have a look. We'll be able to give you more direction.

Ditto. This isn't easy unless you have a ton of experience.

Second, babies all look the same. What will be the advantage.

The viewers might ask: "How is your baby over 2000 yrs. old?"
i have given up on this idea entirely, the pics of the baby that were given to me were not going to work no matter what i told them i wanted, so i informed my friend this is a no go unless she can come up with a more fit photo.
This is what I do. Just had a granddaughter and a grand son born. I took a picture of their dad holding them and they are in color while the dxads are in black and white. That makes a great picture 8-)
Look at my site for a sample 8-)
