I currently have a nikon D3000. Thinking of getting a D300s. Will the nikon lenses I have for the 3000 fit the 300. Trying to figure out what I need and what I can afford. Thanks!
Should, go to the Nikon website and they have a chart that will list which will or won't The main issue in the past was with the d40 which would not accept the total range of Nikon lenses.
I'm REALLY confused. I'm seriously thinking of getting a Nikon D5100 and have been told that my Tamron 70-300 will not work on it - that there are NO adaptor rings for either Nikon or Canon. Then, I saw a Tamron ad in one of my photo magazines the other day that lead me to believe that it will work. What's the REAL scoop??
Did you check out fotodiox.com for adapators. Tamron website would be the place to check out which of their lenses fit which camera bodies.
Go straight to the horses mouth is always my advice.

Here's the REAL scoop. Third party lenses like Tamron, Sigma, and others come with different mount settings - for example, you can get a Tammy lens with a Canon EF mount, a Nikon mount, or maybe even an Olympus mount.... :)
If your Tamron lens has the Nikon mount on it now, and fits an existing Nikon camera, it should also fit a new Nikon camera.

The lens will fit but the question is will the circuitry still work. Things like Auto Focus, aperture (G) and the such. They should but I would check with the manufacturer.
If you have a lens you can take it to a Camera store and try it on the Body you are thinking about buying. If it works youwill know. Dave
The same holds true about the nikon mount. The D7000 will definitely work. I had a 70-300 lens that would not auto focus with my D5000 but worked with the D7000. It's the motor in the camera that allows it.

A friend gave me a Tamron 200-500mm zoom, it wouldn't focus to infinity on his camera, I don't think his Nikon body had the little screw driver mechanism that I have on my D3 and D3x.
It does connect, now to see if the image quality is respectable lol.

You seem to be knowledageable about adapters. Is there an adapter for Nikon AF-S lens to Sony Alpha body?

If your Tamron was designed for Nikon mount it will fit, however you probably will have to manual focus - for auto focus the D5100 requires lens with a focus motor in the lens
