I have a Hoodman HoodLoupe and it's 3 inches, I'm not sure of the model number. I bought it last fall and it fits my Pentax K20D which has a 2.7 inch screen. Your D5100 has a 3 inch screen. When you review your shots just hold the loupe up to it, it will fit over your screen. Hope this helps.

I have a lumix gf3,was about to get rid of it ,due to the fact of not having a viewfinder then remembered that i had a hoodman loop lying around,so i thought why not see if i could shoot with the loop pressed against the screen a lo and behold it was like shooting in live mode ,now my wife even uses ie on her nikon s8100,love the loop now

I have been researching the loupes and interested in getting one for my NEX 5. My concern is the magnet that attaches to the camera. Can the magnet damage any of the componets inside the camera?

There are no magnets on the hoodman loop ,only a rubber boot, which does no damage at all

And that's my problem with it: holding it on the screen. Magnets are irrelevant her because camera bodies have no steel in them. Hoodman does sell a rubber band (for $45 !!!)
that I'm told doesn't work any better that what I already have at home. I could glue it on, but then it won't fit in my pack. Any ideas out there?

All i do is put the loop on the screen bring the whole assembly up to my eye ,press lightly on my eye and fire away,i have no problem with this ,i will admit it takes a bit o getting used to it ,but i shoot this was nearly 100 percent of the time

OOPS, AC: tried it and hate it. Hits my eyeball before it presses in close.

Magnets should NOT come near anything that has computerized software in it. They can change the software and render it unpredictable or in a lot of cases, totally usless.
Items such as : computers, cell phones, cameras, computerized sewing machines, recording mediums, etc.

I got the Hoodman loupe and rubber bands to hold it in position, I love it gives wonderful clarity to the pic you want to shoot, much better than the small eyecup.
