Anyone willing to chime in and tell me what they like about the program? Is it just a DAM or does it have basic editing capabilities also.

I use Pro 5 & am trying Pro 6.
I have used it since it was freeware.
It has pretty decent editing capabilities, actually.
(But I use Photoshop)
It's a DAM (digital asset management program) that will work with servers.
I can re-name, tag keywords, rotate, resize, rate, change file types, convert color space, make contact sheets, pdf's, compare images, searches pretty fast too.
The only negative I've found: It closes down unexpectedly a bit more often than I'd like.

I've tried a lot of programs to replace it, but haven't found any one program to replace it. I did get PhotoMechanic recently and like it. It does some things betterthan ACDSee, but isn't as versatile.

Used it for years and still do but only for quick viewing. I made the switch to Lightroom several years ago and the only negative I have against it, is the ability to quick view files such as attachments. So I keep ACDSee around for that and it also gives me a quick "what if I did that" scenario to see if it's worth my while to import into LR.

I have used ACDSee as my image viewer for over 10 years.
I tried a few of the filters a couple times but don't use it as an image adjusting program. Just mostly to look at image files.
