Might be more helpful if you actually posted your questions, then people have something definite to respond to.

Perhaps leading off with the actual questions might lead to some actual opinions, guidance, answers, conjecture.

The big issues:
1) Proper conversion to realise your vision;
2) The right printer, (Epson if you want to use Quadtone RIP for printing.)
3) Inkset --- Jon Cone's piezography inks are worth a look.
4) Paper choices by type -- matte or semi-gloss?
5) Profiling for your choice.

I would suggest going to Jon Cone's website to have a look at what he offers, as the quality of prints that are able to be derived are to my eye exceptional. It will require dedicating your printer to be a monochrome only printer, (unless and until you want to change up the whole inkset at a significant waste of ink each time you do it.)

see http://theagnosticprint.org/the-state-of-the-state-of-the-arts-in-black-white/

Jon provides profiles for a number of papers, including his own, and will do custom profiles at a reasonable price per paper / printer / inkset. If you go with way, it is probably easiest to pick an inkset based upon your predominant paper type (matte, semi-gloss/baryta), and then use the profiles provided for your paper and printer, or if you are really set on another paper get a custom profile.

Note: I am a masochist and am working toward mastering palladium / platinum printing with digital negatives. Jon's profiles for film printing for digital negatives have been a godsend for me, as it is a huge learning curve to create curves oneself that do not suffer from a range of issues.
