Hey fellow photographers. Feedback requested. I am running into the problem of staying awake on the computer when trying to edit photos and watch learning videos. I know the obvious coffe and 5hr energy. If this is a dumb question just ignore.

Get yr favourite music on an mp3 & use head / ear phones. Something like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbeth, Cream, heavy music to keep you awake.

I find it is far more fun and more rewarding to take images than to sit behind a computer tweaking them.
Get out, explore, capture something new or from a new perspective and you will be too tired to even think about staying up late.
Is that old school? Nope, just smart school thinking.

Not stupid, I fall asleep editing all the time... I catch myself nodding off and have to take regular breaks every hour to stretch and renew my eyeballs.

Fifteen minutes break every two hours, thirty minutes break every four hours during which time you can revise written notes. Every break, a small drink and refocus eyes on a distant object.

It's a little like long distance driving, if you stare constantly at any given distance, you will tire much more quickly than if you varied your focussing distance.

Speaking also helps, but if no one is listening then talk to the men in white coats who WILL turn up at some point.

Same thing happens to me. Staring at the monitor screen for too long a period of time causes me to nod of also. It's rather hypnotic. At least now, I no longer feel along in this regard. LoL

I really can't be of much help, as I almost never sleep, and spend way too much time on my computer, mostly editing photos and reading the UHH.
If you go to bed at a reasonable time and can't fall asleep, then why not go do something you love? Your awake anyway!

i have to say i totally agree, the amount of times i have sat down at the computer for 1/2 hour only to find that all the lights and the tv are off and my wife is in bed....and has been for some time its so addictive and to be honest time consuming

I'm always so excited after taking shots to get them in the computer and see them and edit them. I don't spend a lot of time on each shot because I'll review them the next day. It tends to hype me up rather than make me fall asleep. But I get it.
